Secretary of Energy, Jennifer Granholm, participated in the event hosted by Governor Mark Gordon of Wyoming in which he, Senator Barasso and other officials announced TerraPower’s selection of a Wyoming based retired coal plant as the site on which it would build its first Natrium advanced reactor. Secretary Granholm’s comments were intended for the assembled audience in Wyoming, celebrating this milestone, and were broadcast via a video hook-up. However, she speaks quite generally about the importance of both advanced nuclear and carbon capture to our efforts to decarbonize our energy systems, which is a central component of Biden’s climate goals. She makes the investment case as well as anyone as to the tremendous benefits of bringing these highly bipartisan, technological solutions to market.
