Nucleation Capital is seeking student applicants for its summer internship starting in May/June 2026. We are looking for motivated, self-starting students seeking a position that provides them with an expansive view of the operations and granular activities of a venture fund.

You will get to engage with the fund founders and portfolio ventures, observe venture pitches being made and learn how investment due diligence and decisions develop, among many other activities.  We will assign a range of supportive tasks and provide training in areas spanning portfolio due diligence, deal memo research and drafting, portfolio and news tracking, marketing and social media support, CRM and data management tasks, outreach to investors and venture founders, fundraising and more. Be prepared to learn a lot and, depending upon your interest and capabilities, get a hands-on role in our ongoing investment and capital raising activities.

We are looking for a very smart, high-energy and self-motivated person who can get up to speed quickly and begin to add value through insightful suggestions and awareness of available apps, tools, AI and industry data sources. Preference for candidates who are familiar with venture capital, private equity and/or deeptech investing; bonus points for those who have served in the Navy, have knowledge of nuclear power, advanced nuclear, carbon capture, utilization and sequestration technologies and/or clean energy as a sector.

Experience with Airtable, Wordpress, Semplice, Brevo, Excel, Power Point, Adobe PhotoShop, Adobe InDesign or Typefully a plus. Willingness to learn a must.

Seeking someone local to Palo Alto or Menlo Park, CA and available 20 to 35 hours a week, who is able to meet in person occasionally but primarily working virtually, with regular and close communication. Office space available if preferred.

Part-time Position: 10 hours per week, local preferred, remote optional.
Experience Level:  Deep understanding of social media and several years of social media and marketing experience preferred.
Hourly Salary:  Based upon experience.

Skills Required or Preferred:

  • Experience using LinkedIn, X, Facebook, Instagram, BlueSky and other social media channels and various social media support applications.
  • Strong writing and editing skills, with an ability to adjust writing for various contexts and purposes to craft compelling messages.
  • Should have the ability to create appealing communications and marketing campaigns, including with video.
  • Should have a good design sense and be able to generate formats appropriate for the specific media in use.  An ability to design professional graphics and utilize related software a plus.
  • Knowledge of SEO optimization highly preferred.
  • Knowledge of nuclear energy, familiarity with the nuclear industry, industry organizations, entities and terminology a strong plus.
  • Detail oriented and scrupulous about accuracy and diligence.
  • Be a self-starter, who is well-organized, able to prioritize and manage multiple tasks, who is motivated to learn and figure things through research and asking questions.

The Marketing Associate will work with the team to conduct communications and spread the word about nuclear energy and Nucleation's ability to provide investors with access to this rarified asset class using social media, creative marketing ideas and advertisements. You will help develop an overall marketing plan and design the necessary elements required to achieve marketing goals. You will also help us conceive and create related support materials for outreach to prospective investors, portfolio ventures and the broader community.

Young people are starting new ventures to tackle the energy transition all around the world. Nucleation Capital seeks to be able to invest in and/or help raise capital for those ventures that meet our specific thesis (innovations in advanced nuclear, carbon management and grid enhancement). Thus, we want to connect with individuals around the world who know about or have access to connect with emerging ventures in these sectors. If that is you, we invite you to work with us on an "as able" basis.

There are two ways that you can work with us to introduce potential deals and potentially earn participation on the success of our ability to invest in and/or raise capital for the ventures you bring to our attention:

1. Venture Associate: Ideal for young professionals with technical knowledge keen to learn how to help ventures raise capital. This position  requires that you already have an interest in and access to ongoing opportunities to engage with young teams founding new startup companies and a willingness to build a relationship with them in order to help them raise early capital. We’ll give you some guidance and training on how to find and connect with new ventures that meet our criteria. We'll also help you understand and then explain how special purpose vehicle (SPV) syndications support a team's ability to raise capital. Then, we'll review the candidate ventures that you find and, when appropriate, have you request an equity allocation around which we can create a syndicate deal memo, float a syndicate and engage with and invite investors to participate in the syndicate.

2. Ventury Ally: For professionals who are well connected, want to help worthy ventures raise capital and would like to simply make introductions of worthy teams. We invite you to become a Venture Ally and we will manage the syndicate process internally. In exchange for your introduction, you will be entitled to participate as an LP in any syndicate that we float for a venture that you introduce without paying carried interest and potentially share carry in the SPV.

Both of these positions are opportunities for those keen to learn the ins and outs of the venture capital industry and who are deeply connected into the start-up world to help build stronger ventures. Learn more here about this opportunity to join Nucleation’s syndication team.

Full-time Position: 40+ hours per week, local required.

Experience Level:  The right candidate has 2 to 5 years of recent venture capital investment experience, an advanced graduate degree in engineering, plus 2 to 4 years of prior engineering work experience and or start-up experience, launching and/or running a technology venture that developed a hardware product or service. Preference for candidates with experience raising capital for that venture, their prior venture fund or who have deep connections into the institutional LP world. You must also have experience with and/or work experience within the nuclear energy sector.

Salary and Benefits:  Negotiable, adjusted for experience.

Timing of Hire:  Expected Fall 2026.

Experience Required or Preferred:

  • Know Venture Capital:  Experience sourcing and evaluating technology and ventures from both a technical and financial perspective. Be familiar with the due diligence process and have a demonstrated ability to evalute ventures with an understanding of the critical factors pertinent to the potential for commercial success. Understand entrepreneurship and be capable of assessing business models and go-to-market strategic plans. You must have made prior venture capital investments and have been part of the decision-making process for commiting fund capital with a venture fund.
  • Fluent in Technology:  Should be comfortable within the venture capital community and have experience meeting and talking to deeply technical founders and able to build a rapport based upon an appreciation of technical innovation and the challenges of launching a venture. Be able to build rapport and ask pertinent questions, even as you are learning about a new technology and have experience evaluating pitches being made to you for integrity and accuracy. Be willing and able to do deeper technical research and cross-reference technical claims and materials provided among other diligence activities. Be open to new possibilities but able to think critically on your feet and able to evaluate a team and mission for indicators of credibility.
  • Know Nuclear Energy & Climate:  The right candidate will have a deep knowledge of energy systems, understand the impact carbon emissions are having on our climate and have specific knowledge of nuclear power and the nuclear industry. We are open to many alternatives as to how you gained that knowledge and will prioritize those candidates who have served in the Navy but you need not have gained experience actually operating reactors. Preference for someone with experience in and knowledge of the nuclear industry writ large, including power plant operation, regulation, design and development, project finance or related areas. Experience or familiarity with the broad range of industry organizations, government agencies and national labs a plus, including DOE, NRC, INL, ORNL, INPO, etc.

We are seeking a candidate who recognizes the opportunities provided to the nuclear industry by the growing demand for energy and has expertise and motivation to raise and deploy capital into this exciting but deeply technical sector. If you have most of the above experience and described skills and are interested in helping us raise, close and deploy a new fund we would love to connect, even if you are not quite ready to make a change. Let’s talk. There are not too many people out there with these skills but we are taking our time and looking to hire the right person when we find them. You will help us take Nucleation Capital to the next level.
